A Southamption youngster had a superhero named in his honour - after his mum asked Marfvel Comics to help get him to wear his hearing aid.

Anthony Smith's mother Christina wrote to the US comic giant after the youngster refused to wear the device to school.

Marvel editor Thomas Brennan said: "Our job is to make kids like Anthony believe in heroes and we will do that job."

Little Anthony, who now happily wears his aid to school, suffers from a rare genetic disorder which severely affects his hearing.

His dad Kevin, 41, said: "Anthony is a massive fan of superheroes, especially Spiderman, Captain America and The Avengers.
